Are you taking advantage of the ADA tax credits that could be available to your campground based on the repairs and maintenance that you do there? If you’re doing any improvements to your campground, such as expansion, especially, you may want to take a look at how you can utilize these credits. Credits are much better than just deductions. They are a dollar-for-dollar expenditure. So if you spent $1,000 on the ADA credit, you could get a 50% credit or $500 back. That is based on keeping up with the guidelines of the ADA. If you do things to remove barriers to ADA compliance items, if you add in things like fire rings or picnic tables that are handicap accessible, if you make adjustments to your bathroom, install ramps, things like that, those are all part of the ADA credit.
You can do improvements up to $5,000 of credits each year to make your campground more accessible. So think about the improvements that you’re making or the ones that you have made. Can they qualify for the ADA credit? This is a great opportunity for campground owners to make sure they take advantage of those credits. And we don’t want you to miss out. I’d be happy to talk with you to make sure that your improvements in your plans include getting these credits that are available to you.
